Bernie Albert brings her own ‘realness’ our Blogs
We are over the moon to have Bernie Albert writing regular articles for us on all aspects of diversity.
Bernie is passionate about equality for all, and engaging in active change geared towards facilitating a paradigm shift in how organisations understand and approach their organisational structures and EDI. Having consulted for several organisations, her current focus uses the knowledge of human behaviour in supporting diverse communities in institutional spaces, as well as facilitating the difficult discussions needed to move the EDI mandate forward.
Bernie has an amazing breath of experience having being Course Leader and on the Undergraduate BA in Events Management at LBU, developed and delivered courses, curriculum content & training programs across a variety of subject areas, in the UK and in the Middle East, Americas, and Europe. Bernie is a thought leader in cultures and cultural capital, critical to navigating the multicultural world we live in, actively supporting diversity through her research which focuses on how people of colour navigate the various institutional spaces we inhabit.
More recently she was Chairperson of the Leeds West Indian Carnival Advisory Board, and Vice Chair of Leeds West Indian Carnival, helping implement the restructure to secure the legacy of this Cultural Event. She sits on the University Committee for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, the Race, Equality Charter Mark steering group, Race forum and the UCU Race Committee. She also sits on the Include Me steering group, supporting Entrepreneurs and Employers within the STEM support delivery of their EDI mandate.
